A Dental Partner Who Understands Your Cases
If you manage workers’ compensation claims, you already know how quickly an unresolved dental or TMJ issue can stall a case. The injured worker is not sleeping. The chronic pain is not improving. The return-to-work timeline keeps slipping, and nobody has connected the dots back to the jaw, the bite, or the airway.
That is where I come in.
I am Dr. Sanjay Doshi, and I have been practicing dentistry in Diamond Bar, California since 1991. Over 35 years, I have built a significant part of my practice around the intersection of dentistry and workers’ compensation: evaluating, treating, and documenting craniofacial and maxillofacial injuries that arise from industrial accidents, chronic pain conditions, head trauma, and work-related stress.
When adjusters, nurse case managers, and TPAs refer patients to my office, they know what they will get: prompt appointments, thorough clinical documentation, and a provider who understands exactly what their case file needs.
What Most Claims Miss
Dental and oral injuries are among the most commonly overlooked compensable conditions in workers’ compensation. They do not always present immediately. Sometimes an injured worker develops jaw pain three months after a neck injury. Sometimes chronic pain medication triggers grinding that fractures teeth. Sometimes a workplace fall that seemed minor results in TMJ dysfunction that quietly worsens for a year before anyone evaluates it.
Here is what I regularly find and document in workers’ comp referrals:
TMJ and Jaw Disorders. Jaw dysfunction is a direct and well-established consequence of head, neck, and facial trauma. I evaluate and treat TMJ disorder, myofascial pain syndrome, occlusal instability, cervical-TMJ relationship disorders, and trismus. I produce causation narratives that clearly connect the clinical findings to the industrial injury.
Bruxism and Tooth Fractures. Chronic pain, medication changes, sleep disruption, and stress activation from workplace injuries frequently trigger nighttime grinding and clenching. Broken teeth, cracked crowns, failed restorations, and jaw fatigue are all compensable when properly documented. My reports make that case.
Sleep Apnea and Airway Disorders. Injuries to the head, neck, and jaw can directly compromise airway function and sleep quality. Poor sleep prolongs recovery, worsens pain perception, and increases overall claim duration and cost. I offer digital airway evaluations and home sleep testing, and I document the industrial connection when it exists.
Direct Dental Trauma Fractured, displaced, or avulsed teeth from falls, machinery impact, or workplace altercations are straightforwardly compensable under the California Labor Code. I provide same-day or next-day evaluations, treatment, and complete clinical documentation.
Additional Conditions I Evaluate:
- Headaches and facial pain following workplace trauma
- Xerostomia related to long-term medication use
- Chronic oral inflammation
- Post-traumatic dental complications
- Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
What You Can Expect When You Refer to This Office
I understand that a referral is only as good as the follow-through. Here is how my office operates for workers’ comp referrals:
Fast access. Referred injured workers are seen the same day or the next day. Cases do not sit in a scheduling queue for three weeks.
Documentation that moves the case forward. I produce PR-2-style reports, industrial causation narratives, RFA support documentation, medical necessity narratives, and comprehensive treatment plans with clear clinical rationale, all written for the claims file, not just the chart.
Direct communication. If you have a question about a case, you can reach out to this office for an answer. I am not a large institution with a referral coordinator you will never hear back from.
Experience with the system. I have worked alongside claims adjusters, nurse case managers, utilization review departments, QMEs, AMEs, applicant and defense attorneys, and primary treating physicians for over three decades. I know how the process works and I work within it.
Collaborative care. I have longstanding relationships with oral surgeons, maxillofacial specialists, neurologists, and chiropractors. When a case requires specialist co-management, I coordinate it.

For Injured Workers
If you were hurt at work and you are experiencing any of the following, your condition may be covered under your workers’ compensation claim, and you may not even know it:
- Jaw pain, clicking, or locking
- Morning headaches or facial soreness
- Teeth that have cracked or shifted since your injury
- Difficulty opening your mouth fully
- Ear pain or a ringing sensation
- Neck tension that travels into the jaw
- Grinding or clenching at night
- Changes in your bite
- Snoring, poor sleep, or daytime fatigue that developed after your injury
These symptoms have a way of quietly worsening over time. The earlier they are evaluated and documented, the better the outcome, for both your health and your claim. You do not need to figure out whether your dental condition is related to your injury. That is my job. Call my office, and I will take it from there.
